On The Rise: Johannes Taklo
Johannes clips kept popping up on my Instagram Explore page and TikTok For You Page which is like the modern version of having stand out clips in HCSC session recap video or opening clips in the montage part of a Transworld video. People are talking about his riding so we had Gus Warbington talk to Johannes for the latest On The Rise

How did you find snowboarding? At 6 years old my family got a cabin where the previous owners had left boots and snowboard in my size so I had to try. My mom snowboards, which also made it easier
Years snowboarding? 17
Best Contest Result? 3rd Place World Rookie Tour Livigno 2020
Favorite Snowboard Video? DC’s It
Biggest Inspiration? Anyone who’s really good at both snowboarding and skateboarding. Good examples are Markus Olimstad and Alek Østreng
What motivates you? Seeing my friends being sucessful and doing cool stuff in all aspects of life
What rider from the new generation is the gonna be the future of snowboarding? Isak Andre Lindberg
Most Underrated Rider? Vetle Rygh
Favorite Old Head? Alek Østreng
Best Style? Nik Baden
Most Cooked Homie? kis23
Most talented rider? Kristian Skjømming
Sketchiest Homie? Håvard Roald (@adm.dir) in the absolute best possible way
Favorite filmer? Big fan of Bryden Bowleys work recently
Who brings the best energy? Jakob Tessand. Almost too good.. having him on street missions usually results in more bullshitting than actual riding
Worst trick? Rail flips
Steel or Powder? Powder
Dream Sponsor (Doesn’t Have to Be Snowboarding-Related)? Kolonihagen, and only for their sodas
Worst Trend in Snowboarding? Contest riding and non-contest riding becoming too divided. Snowboarding should be able to be appreciate as a whole
Biggest fear? P2 card somehow getting broken or lost before transferring clips from the cam
Is there a time where you should have died but made it out unscathed? Or sketchiest moment? 2018 in Landgraaf, Netherlands, indoor boarding. Drifted completely out of the landing of the “big jump” on a BS 720, landed on the edge of a kicker to a down rail, feet and face to the ground simultaneous due to the impact, face only centimeters away from the start of the rail. Knees where a bit sore for a week, other than that unscathed. Link to clip if you want to have a look.
A moment that you’ll never forget? Meeting Terje Håkonsen for the first time and the only thing he said to me was to start wearing goggles. Definetly a solid advice and something I should do more often, so thank you Terje!
Warm up or straight to business? Been trying to warm up lately, but usually way too fast to business
When do you ride best? Whenever I get to do something before going to the hill. School, work out, cook up some beats or anything else that wakes up the brain

Best place and worst place to snowboard? Skistar Hemsedal
Interests outside of snowboarding? Locked in on music production, skateboarding, and physics at the moment.
Best advice you ever received? Be patient, goes for everything in life, but mostly snowboard take-offs
Words to live By? “Expect nothing, appreciate everything” goes pretty hard
Shout Outs: The fam, all of Reload (Sebastian, Anders, Jakob, Øyvind and Odin) and everyone else I spend time with
