Bomb Hole Cup 2025 Recap and Results

SNOWBOARD BANKED SLALOM / PARK SHOWDOWN / COMMUNITY GET TOGETHER

April 5th and 6th, 2025

MENS OVERALL WINNER: Pat Fava
WOMENS OVERALL WINNER: Iris Pham

The fourth annual Bomb Hole Cup is a wrap and we're back in the studio recording episodes but we gotta give you all a proper recap of the weekend. Spent the week leading up to BHC weekend organizing prizes and goodie bags from all our sponsors and supporters of the Cup. Spent Friday doing bib pick up at Milosport which was a great way to get some snowboarders together. Sorry about the line for bib pick up but it’s our not so secret way of getting a bunch of snowboarders to hang out and talk shop. Milo had First Look, a preview of next winter’s gear from all your favorite brands to check, Vans Snowboarding picked up the tab on ordering 40 pizzas for all to eat, we had a merch table so you could get another Sam Taxwood t-shirt, and a whole lot of good energy ahead of race day.

With over 400 people signed up for the banked slalom and we sold out of spots two weeks ahead of race day (reminder to sign up early!) Brighton park crew shaped up two courses and we had a bluebird day for racing. Here’s a run down of a proper race plan: Dap up Bjorn before dropping in, stay high in the berms (or stay low?), go fast, mind the whoops after passing the finish line, and make sure you return your timing device. Stop by Nitro tent for a free wax if you’re feeling slow on the slush then get back up there for run two. Cranked through runs and got everyone through their two runs.

While times were organized and numbers got crunched it was time for the Splitboard Race. In year’s past we’ve had a big crew eager to put it all on the line but this year it was a duel to the bottom, mano i mano. Maybe it was our updated policy about no hardboots or maybe rider line up was limited to Wasatch Splitfest happening the same day. Either way it came down to changeover at the top.

In classic Bomb Hole fashion we had some mix ups with the podium spots but managed to sort it all out before the end of awards.

Here are the final results:

BANKED SLALOM RACE RESULTS

Day Two - Park Showdown

Back to Brighton for the Sunday Showdown, the Park Showdown which included the Grom Class, Open Class, Pro Class, and Legend Class. Brighton park crew built out a wild plaza and challenge rail and with Charles Beckinsale in Utah he stopped by with a Prinoth Groomer to shape up a mini big air jump he nicknamed “Biggie Smalls”.

Contest started with Groms Class and we saw many personal “never been dones” by the little buddies. Next up was Open class and it was pure chaos in the best possible way. Slam to make ratio might have been a little off but it was truly a show. Behind the scenes the livestream crew was getting dialed in and next thing you know we’re broadcasting Open Class to the masses. We took a moment for the national anthem before Yuki Kadono led the Mandatory 900 train. After five minutes of 900s being stomped the course was opened up to the entire Pro and Legend class to attack. It seemed like we kept tacking 20 minutes onto the session a dozen times over. Finally we wrapped the session and gave the Pros and Legends a break while we had the One Foot race and watched people max out their cardio. Prizes were claimed and then we shifted the audience to the Limo Jam (or Limo Launch) and watched pros sent. Backflips, frontflips, corks, and everything was being tossed off the pole jam. Some came up short and bumped the bumper but Soft Log will still drive. In year’s past Chris has said “don’t jib the limo” but that must have been lost in translation for Ryo Aizawa who went 180 tailpress 180 out on the roof and really won the crowd over. Few more airs over the limo and it was onto awards.
