The Uninvited Invitational Event Recap (The Lost Tape)
I borrowed that poem from my good friend Katie Kennedy, who borrowed it from poet Rupi Kaur. Rupi Kaur and Jess Kimura… kindred minds. To me, this poem sums up the entire sentiment behind the Uninvited, from video project to in-person event. I know that the girls felt it too—those of us who were lucky enough to be among the buzz that was the inaugural Uninvited Invitational.
I’m convinced that anything conjured from Jess’s brain is going to be a powerful display of heartfelt abandon, but this one felt particularly special. To get 65 of the best chick snowboarders in the world in the same place over the same 3-day span, alongside the most talented female media and industry players in the game, at a course hand-crafted by Jess and her crew with significant rider feedback, all wrapped together in a cozy blanket of sunshine and warmth and drinks and happy tears and girls being genuinely hyped for one another… I can’t think of a better way to share the space.
Thank you Jess and Haze – we love you and we can’t wait for next year!!!
